Target Rock National Wildlife Refuge (C+)

Target Rock National Wildlife Refuge Village of Lloyd Harbor 80 acre mature oak/ hickory forest with a rocky beach. There is a brackish pond also. Join me on my “Good-bye to Winter, Hello to Spring hike”. We will hike through forest down to the beach where we will hike along the beach to the ruins of a lighthouse. We will enjoy views of Huntington Bay, the LI Sound and Lloyd Harbor. From the ruins we will have a good view of the Huntington Lighthouse. Bring snacks, water or lunch. We will be timing our hike around the tides so that we can hike to the ruins. Terrain is, mostly, flat but most of the hike is on rocky beach. Total round trip distance is about 4 miles.
