Paddle: Sebonac Creek at Southampton (C+)

  Enjoy a leisurely paddle on the beautiful spot of Southampton called Sebonac Creek, which features natural beauty, little development, protected wildlife, and abundant wildlife.about 6 miles distance and 2 hours.  After paddling is done, enjoy the yummy BBQ with ADK Long Islander! This outing is also designed  to be outing event of ADK Long Island BBQ Annual Picnic @ Southhampton. Rentals available from East End Explorer LLC, or bring your own kayak or canoe. Indian Lake 4-3-2-1 Hike Challenge (B)

Friday, September 8 - Monday, September 11

The Adirondacks have their 46, Saranac Lake the 6ers, Chestertown the Challenge, Tupper Lake its Triad, and now, Indian Lake has the 4-3-2-1 Hike Challenge (http://indian-lake.com/docs/HikingPatch4-3-2-1.pdf). Using the chamber of commerce color coded trail map, the challenge consists of ten hikes: four greens (easy), three yellows (moderate), two reds (difficult) and either Snowy or Blue Mountain. Arrive in Indian Lake on Friday evening then over the next three days hike such local classics as: Chimney Mountain 2.2 miles RT, Watch Hill 2.4 miles RT, Castle Rock 3.4 miles RT (all yellows) and John Pond – Clear Pond loop, Bullhead Pond, OK Slip Falls 6 miles RT (all greens). Harriman Loop Hike (B+)

This is a moderately paced loop hike of 7 miles with several panoramic viewpoints from rock ledges. We'll start from Tuxedo Train Station and find out how steep (very) Almost Perpendicular actually is and how Elbow Brush got it's name. We'll try to pace our hike so our lunch break is on top of historic Claudius Smith Rock and then visit a natural rock dam, before returning to our starting point. Saturday, September 16 - Fall Trail Maintenance - Catskills  Join us for the Fall Trail Maintenance of the section of Long Path - Catskill State Park.  The trail covers Bangle Hill, south-east of Peekamoose Mountain. Giant Ledge – Panther, Catskills (B+)

Moderately strenuous hike led at a moderate pace, approximately 7 miles and elevation gain of 1900 feet. Panther is one of the Catskill 3500 peaks with great views from both Giant Ledge and Panther. Stump Pond – Blydenburgh Park (C)

A moderately paced six mile loop around Stump Pond in Blydenburgh Park in Suffolk County. Stump Pond is the third largest freshwater body on Long Island and is rich with aquatic life. Follow a winding trail through the leafy woods, crossing the headwaters of the Nissequogue River and enjoying occasional views of the blue waters of Stump Pond. Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn Hike to Caumsett State Park (C+)

Approximately 5-6 miles suitable for beginners. Caumsett has 1,500 acres of woodland, meadows, rocky shoreline, salt marsh and former farm and garden areas. 2-3 mile of our hike will be on the beach along the Long Island Sound, Bring lunch (not available for purchase) and two quarts of water. Leave No Trace Trainer Course and Catskill Backpack (B)

This will be a two-day trainer course led by Leave No Trace Master Educator Will Soter of Upstate Adventure Guides.   Participants will learn more about the seven principles of Leave No Trace and teaching techniques for disseminating these low impact outdoor skills to others.  The course will be informative, practical, hands-on and fun in a beautiful back country setting. We will hike less than 3 miles with elevation gain of 1000 feet to our camping location. $25 fee covers training materials. Tupper Lake Triad (B)

Presidents’ Weekend. Complete the Tupper Lake Triad (http://www.tupperlaketriad.com) in winter. Arrive in Indian Lake on Friday evening and  on Saturday hike Coney 2.2 miles RT with 548' ascent and Goodman mountains 3.2 miles RT with 581' ascent and and on Sunday hike Mt. Arab 2.2 miles RT with  764' ascent. Monday’s hike determined by group. Snowshoes and micro-spikes are required. Trip limited to 10 people. Cost: $100 for three nights lodging at local camp with all the ingredients for a DIY breakfast provided. Group dinner on Saturday & Sunday at local restaurants. Hiking and Nature Study, Glacier National Park (B)

Glacier National Park preserves over 1,000,000 acres of forests, alpine meadows, mountains and glaciers in Montana.  Hiking is moderate to strenuous with distances of 4-11 miles at elevations of 5,000 to 8,000 feet with elevation gain and loss varying between  500 and 2,000 feet.
